About
Rather than be just another voice in a growing chorus, YoungWorkersMovement.com provides a thorough analysis of young worker issues and ways to reform unions to accommodate the next generation.
YoungWorkersMovement.com documents the issues facing 18-30 year old workers in the labor market and highlights the ways young workers are transforming the labor movement. As the density of organized private-sector employees suffers due to unjust labor laws and the public perception of the role of unions creeps downward, organized labor is beginning to recognize the need to become more appealing to young workers and progressive college students.
In this way, YoungWorkersMovement.com begins to provide a framework for turning the ongoing discussion into action.
About the author…
Matthew Brokman
As a long time student-worker solidarity advocate, I have worked tirelessly to give young activists a greater voice in the labor movement. After working at the DNC and AFSCME, I now serve as a political organizer with the largest public employee union in Connecticut. With the current economic crisis, and the decline of unionism and support for a strong middle-class, I felt the need to take my advocacy to the next level.
